Overview
Our surgery uses EMIS computer software for medical records.
You can access appointments and order repeat prescriptions
online with Emis Access.
Click
here
to open the Emis Access service - by clicking here you are
confirming that you have read and agreed to the conditions on
this page. In particular,
with some exceptions, you may only book online appointments with
your own registered GP (click
here for further details).

Registration
In order for you to use Emis Access you must first create a
user account. This will require you to enter certain details
which will identify you to the system. Our receptionists will
give you a letter with these details. This letter also has the
terms and conditions under which you may use the service. When you create your account it is important that you
enter the details exactly as they appear on this letter. Having
created your account, you must then change your password to one
of your choosing, which must have a mixture of letters and
numbers, be at least 7 characters long, and be known only to
yourself.
Once you have created your account, you should keep your
Access ID (a number, which identifies you on the system) and
password secret.
For reasons of patient confidentiality, we can only issue
letters to those wishing to create an Emis Access account to you
in person.
- Please be prepared to prove your identity when you ask
for this letter.
- We are not able to issue details for your husband/wife
etc - each member of your family must request their own
letter in person.
- You must be 16 years old or over to use this service.
When you successfully sign in to Emis Access you will be able
to manage your appointments and order repeat prescriptions.
Appointments
At present, we can only offer online appointments for routine
surgeries with the GPs, GP specialist trainees and assistants and
consultants in Primary Care. Furthermore, because of the outside
commitments that we have (for example, to Whitby Hospital) we
can only open up appointments a week ahead.
- Please only book appointments with the GP with whom you
are registered or, if you are registered with one of our
job
share partners (see below), you may book with either job sharer.
- If there is no appointment for your own GP available,
you may book an appointment with the GP registrar or one of
our assistants or consultants in Primary Care.
- Please do not book appointments with GP partners other
than your own doctor (unless your doctor is one of our job
share partners). If you do book an appointment using the
online service with another GP partner then you may not be
seen.
- If there is no suitable appointment available, or your
problem is of an urgent nature, please telephone the
surgery. We always have urgent appointment slots available
(not necessarily with your own doctor), but these cannot be
booked online.
- It is important that you only book appointments for
normal 10 minute consultations. If you need an appointment
for a
special service, please phone for an appointment.
- Online appointments are released 7
days prior to the date of the appointment.
- You can cancel any appointments you have at our surgery
using Emis Access.
Job Share Partners
-
Dr
Amanda Smart and Dr
Martin Linton are job share partners
-
Dr Bryony Williams
and Dr Paul Johnson
are job share partners
-
Dr Tara Hazledine
and Dr Rob Hazledine
are job share partners
-
Dr George Campbell
and Dr Tom Ward are
not job share partners (Dr
Campbell is a half time partner and
Dr Ward is full time) but
they share patient lists in the same way as job share
partners
Repeat Prescriptions
You may request any of your usual repeat prescriptions using
Emis Access. Such requests will be acted upon within one working
day.
- On occasion we may not be able to issue your
prescription (for example, your prescription is ordered too
early, if you need to see the doctor or your review date has
passed) but we will do our best to assist if this is the
case. This is the same however you order your prescriptions
(whether by phone, or mail etc).
Other
We offer this service on a basis of trust that it will not be
abused. We reserve the right to block individual access without
notice and without reason, although we hope this will not be
necessary.
If our computer system goes down, or is backing up (usually
in the middle of the night), then Emis Access services at our
surgery may be temporarily unavailable.
