Online appointment booking and repeat prescription ordering (secure service)

Our surgery uses Emis computer software for medical records. You can access appointments and order repeat prescriptions online with Emis Access.

Click here to open the Emis Access service - by clicking here you are confirming that you have read and agreed to the conditions on this page

Registration

In order for you to use Emis Access you must first create a user account. This will require you to enter certain details which will identify you to the system. Our receptionists will give you a letter with these details (available from July 7th 2006). When you create your account it is important that you enter the details exactly as they appear on this letter. Having created your account, you must then change your password to one of your choosing, which must have a mixture of letters and numbers, be at least 7 characters long, and be known only to yourself.

Once you have created your account, you should keep your Access ID (a number, which identifies you on the system) and password secret.

For reasons of patient confidentiality, we can only issue letters to those wishing to create an Emis Access account to you in person.

bulletPlease be prepared to prove your identity when you ask for this letter.
bulletWe are not able to issue details for your husband/wife etc - each member of your family must request their own letter in person.
bulletYou must be 16 years old or over to use this service.

When you successfully sign in to Emis Access you will be able to manage your appointments and order repeat prescriptions.

Appointments

At present, we can only offer online appointments for routine surgeries with the GPs, GP registrars and assistants and consultants in Primary Care. Furthermore, because of the outside commitments that we have (for example, to Whitby Hospital) we can only open up appointments a week ahead.

bulletPlease only book appointments with the GP with whom you are registered or, if you are registered with one of our job share partners, you may book with either job sharer.
bulletIf there is no appointment for your own GP available, you may book an appointment with the GP registrar or one of our assistants or consultants in Primary Care
bulletPlease do not book appointments with GP partners other than your own doctor (unless your doctor is one of our job share partners)
bulletIf there is no suitable appointment available, or your problem is of an urgent nature, please telephone the surgery. We always have urgent appointment slots available (not necessarily with your own doctor), but these cannot be booked online.
bulletIt is important that you only book appointments for normal 10 minute consultations. If you need an appointment for a special service, please phone for an appointment.
bulletYou can cancel any appointments you have at our surgery using Emis Access.

Repeat Prescriptions

You may request any of your usual repeat prescriptions using Emis Access. Such requests will be acted upon within one working day.

bulletOn occasion we may not be able to issue your prescription (for example, your prescription is ordered too early, if you need to see the doctor or your review date has passed), but we will do our best to assist if this is the case. This is the same however you order your prescriptions (whether by phone, or mail etc).

Other

We offer this service on a basis of trust that it will not be abused. We reserve the right to block individual access without notice and without reason, although we hope this will not be necessary.

If our computer system goes down, or is backing up (usually in the middle of the night), then Emis Access services at our surgery may be temporarily unavailable.
