If you want to join the practice please ask at Reception and this will be organised for you - normally one of our staff will meet you to give you information about the practice and to register you and your family at the time This takes about 10 minutes. Please bring your medical card if you have it. The information on the medical card will speed up the process of getting your records from your previous practice. Once you have been accepted as a patient your medical records will be transferred to us.
When you register, we will ask you to make an appointment to see the Health Care Assistant for a new patient health check. This will make sure that our records are accurate and all routine checks to promote your health and wellbeing (such as blood pressure / smear tests / mammograms) are up to date.
If you are staying in the area for a short period (less than 3 months) you can register as a temporary patient if you need medical services.
Most UK residents are entitled to NHS services. Overseas visitors may be charged. There are reciprocal arrangements with many countries (including all EU countries) that entitle many overseas visitors to NHS treatment.
You can change doctor within Whitby Group Practice at your request. You do not have to give a reason.
