Consulting hours
Patients may book doctors' appointments up to 5 working days in advance
(practically speaking this means one week).
For urgent problems we also run open clinics which are book on the day with
either a doctor or the nurse practitioner. The book on the day clinics should be
for single problems that cannot wait. For patients with a number of issues, or
routine problems, the normal appointments are more appropriate.
 |
Surgery opening hours are 8am - 6pm on weekdays. |
 |
Extended hours. In order to provide choice to
patients who cannot easily get to our routine surgeries, such as those of
you who work away, we now offer extended hours where you can book to see
your doctor in an evening or a Saturday morning.
 |
Evening surgeries are from 6.30pm on Tuesdays and
Thursdays |
 |
Saturday surgeries are held on the first Saturday of the
month from 8.30am. When there is a Saturday surgery there is no Thursday
evening surgery during the preceding week. |
 |
Appointments should be pre-booked. Please phone
reception during normal surgery daytime hours to find out when
your doctor is doing an evening surgery (this works out at about once
every 2 weeks). |
 |
The surgery phone line is not open during extended hours
and in an emergency you should contact the out of hours service. |
 |
We offer 2 walk-in appointments. However it is, of
course, preferable to book your appointment to ensure you see your own
doctor. |

 |
Since the PCT took over responsibility for out of hours
services (Nov 1st 2004) we are no longer able to offer Saturday morning and
Public holiday surgeries, as this is the
PCT's responsibility and they
have commissioned
Primecare to provide Primary Care
out of hours services during these hours, as well as the rest of the out of
hours period. |
 |
Doctors usually consult for two surgeries of 2+ hours each
day, except when carrying out other duties, such as casualty cover or other
hospital work. In view of the fact that this changes from week to week, it
is best to phone to find out when a particular doctor is consulting. |

Video taping of consultations. As a training practice,
occasionally patients are asked if they would allow their consultation to be
videotaped. This is done solely for educational purposes and only if patients
give written consent. The tape is then erased as soon as the educational
activity has been completed. If patients change their mind after a videotaped
consultation, the tape would be immediately erased. We are very grateful to our
patients for co-operating with this activity.
